Imagine - A Tribute To John Lennon Poster

A tribute to John Lennon revealing the essence of the man and his music.

In 1981 I was contacted by an old friend who was at that time the road manager with the band Whitesnake. The band were not happy with current ideas for an album cover that EMI studios were suggesting and so I was asked to come up with a few ideas of my own. The album in question was called Come And Get It and my design of a glass apple with a snake inside was accepted. The album become a best seller for Whitesnake.

At a meeting with Whitesnakes vocalist David Coverdale and the rest of the band to discuss ideas it became evident that the house where they were recording was the very same house that John Lennon & Yoko Ono had once lived and where they recorded the song and video of Imagine. The house was Tittennhurst Park and was at that time owned by fellow Beatle Ringo Starr.

Later that night I took a look around the house and eventually wandered into that famous white room and sat in the spot where the legendary white grand piano would have been. A shiver ran down my back and at that point a I imagined the image as you see it now. It was only a few weeks after John had been shot in December of 1981 and a very moving experience.
